Angel Mulor CEO of Iberia reports his company has collected enough data to prove Ryanair gets illegal subsidies from regional Spanish airport authorities.
The most obvious case would be Santender, in Northern Spain. Ryanair has been flying to this city since September 2004 and the local government are to grant the Irish carrier EUR 1,2 million a year for three years.
Ryanair's main Spanish hub, Gerona would also be in the same case. Both local government and local companies (including the Chamber of Trade, the Hotel Federation) agreed to fund the airline's new base : EUR 6,2 million a year for two years.
As a result Iberia is to bring the case to the European Commission in Brussels."
